Inspired by an all american girl
36"x 30" oil portrait
Every little girl wants to be a princess
This oil portrait was done from a photograph her grandmother took, the background was busy so I edited it and added the blue sky and the field of daisies. Everyone is pleased with how it turned out, it is an iconic painting. I am accepting commissions for portraits please contact me for more details.
The ponies sold in an art exhibit for more, thanks for supporting artists in this recession.

"In the house of long life there I wander.
In the house of happiness there I wander,
Beauty before me with it I wander.
Beauty behind me with it I wander.
Beauty below me with it I wander.
Beauty above me with it I wander.
Beauty all around with it I wander.
On the beautiful trail
I am with it I wander."

Not Alone in the World Anymore, Medicine for My Spirit
When I was coming of age as an adult I felt as if the world
was full of deceit, hypocrisy and selfishness.
This was a shocking revelation to me. When I looked at adults and they were
behaving badly, I wanted to hide, curl up and never participate their corrupt world.
I called out for someone sane to show up in my life.
This worked! It took effect very quickly.
People started showing up in my life who were sane, decent, kind and wise.
One man appeared, a Native American Medicine man,
Rolling Thunder
He came into my Health Food restaurant and sniffed around
like a wolf
(that is a story I will tell someday and have been working on my book for many years)
He gave an eight hour lecture in Atlanta Georgia, and soothed all of us who were in attendance.
I don't feel alone anymore. I know you can call out for help and help will arrive.
If I pay attention I find people everyday that are living with integrity, I think most people
do try to live their lives doing the right things. Nothing happens out of pure coincidence we
attract what we believe. I quit watching all the bad news and started believing there were sane, wise and decent people in the world. Now they show up all the time and I feel better, in fact I am leading a pretty interesting life.
So in conclusion, don't buy into a bad attitude about what is happening around you.
Look for the better view, ask to meet the ones that will help you, they are there and they might
even show up as a wolf, or Medicine man, or teacher, or...

Zen and the art of living well, unemployed? There are always answers
I have been unemployed for a long time. I own my own business. I have some clients thank goodness, that buy my art and commission me to do paintings and murals, but frankly business has slowed in this economy.
Unfortunately my bills have not, so in my search for a greater income I have discovered adsense by google. No I am not getting paid to say this, If I can help my friends, it will help me, and yes I am a compassionate person too.
You can view how people are making a great living with adsense on you tube. My eyes and ears are open.
After watching these videos I feel like I have been out to lunch for too long. I am not going to complain about not making enough money anymore, I am sick of hearing myself, plus
complaining only makes things worse.
Really, this brings me to the other videos and books I am reading by Abraham-Hicks www.abraham-hicks.com
you might want to read those books and watch some of the videos on youtube too.
It is like a fast track to "The Secret" I hope you all have seen that movie, keys to a better life;
how our minds and hearts create our world.
So my new motto NO COMPLAINING,
TIME TO ASK "HOW CAN I HAVE A GREAT LIFE?"
I know many people have been turned off of religion these days and most people know the reason.
I don't consider myself religious, I consider myself humanitarian.
But I do want to talk about the Bible and one phrase that has always intrigued me;
"The Meek Shall Inherit the Earth"
I always wondered about that, who are the meek? Are they people who will lie down and let you trample them? Are they the mormons or some other group?
Well I have found the answer.
The meek are people who are willing to learn. It is that simple.
I am willing to learn, I am dropping my ingrained preconceptions about
things. I am willing and open to learn more. That's it. I am keeping an open mind, and following my heart.
I asked the question, "How can I make a better living?" And I am getting answers.
There are always answers if you ask.

What I am up to
I hope everyone had the chance to see Ken Burns new documentaries on PBS
The National Parks: America's Best Idea . Unbelievably beautiful, and rich with
insight. The people involved in preserving these amazing areas had so much wisdom and integrity. I now need to read John Muir the insights into his character made me feel as if I knew him.
In 2000 I visited Yosemite National Park, conveying the enormity of the granite cliffs is difficult, except I could say you will feel like a mere mouse in this gigantic ancient landscape.
My mission was also to visit the sequoias. I had only seen photographs of these magnificent giants. I wanted to be with them, to yes hug them and be still then listen to hear what I might learn from them. They have been around for thousands of years, that is incredible. I heard that in the early years some men decided to cut them down and use the wood. It turned out that the wood was so soft it was useless for building with, so the turned the huge felled tress into toothpicks. Are we absurd in our thoughtless actions. Glad we have protected some of them anyway, I hope every kid can see one. By the way they have a pine cone about the size of a walnut or golf ball, odd isn't it.

Joseph Campbell
Reflections on the Art of Living, A Joseph Campbell Companion, selected and edited by Diane K. Osbon
some quotes from the book
The Privilege of a lifetime is being who you are.
Awe is what moves us forward.
Eternity is a dimension of here and now.
We are not here until we can say "yea" to it all.
It is by going down into the abyss that we recover the treasures of life.
The heroic life is living the individual adventure.
A bit of advice given to a young Native American at the time of his initiation:
"As you go the way of life, you will see a great chasm.
JUMP
It is not as wide as you think."
PBS ran some terrific programs with Joseph Campbell, he was an amazing enlightened man.

Wisdom with Joseph Campbell
Who am I ?
Ahhhh, the question we all ponder at certain times in our lives. I must admit I probably ponder this question on a regular basis.
As a creator I am always looking to improve my life and explore what is all around me, as well as what yearns from within to get out, and I like to let it out, try it you'll like it too.
Marianne Williamson said in a cassette book I had listened to, I am paraphrasing; when talking about her interests and why she wouldn't take up a musical instrument. She realized she had been stopping her own growth because she couldn't be perfect at it.
I understand this I am a Virgo, but I try not to let it get in my way. Anyway now you know I do think Marianne has a lot to teach us about ourselves, I was so happy to be able to hear "A Course in Miracles" on the Oprah radio show, Marianne explained the principles so clearly. This is a complicated course I had attempted to take it once, but didn't have the time to commit, people study this course for years, with facilitators.
Anyway today and for the last 50 something years,,, I have been, and sometimes still am,,,,,,
Well let me put some labels on myself not in any particular order:
Artist, Painter, Muralist, Illustrator, Portraitist, Writer, Poet, Costume creator, Documentarian, Producer, Creator, Visionary, Shaman, Healer, Pet Psychic, Graphic Designer, Merrymaker, Goddess, Mystic, Interior Designer, Mom, Girlfriend, Friend, Gourmet & Healthy Cook, Restaurant owner, Business Owner, Animal Lover all kinds including wild ones, Culinary & Medicinal herb user(legal ones), Researcher, Inventor
I have learned that its better to think of yourself in the best light possible, be kind to yourself and feel good, do what comes naturally, everyone has their own unique abilities and interests so let yourself grow into them, see how far you can go.
Someone once said to me "You are enough, just the way you are now."
This was so soothing, I could take a deep breath and relax. I didn't have to change myself, I didn't have to be like someone else. I quit trying to change to become something I wasn't, this realization is very freeing.
Once I got into that statement and felt it, I naturally was inspired to pursue my own interests
that have led me all over the world and contentment in my own backyard as well.
YOU ARE THE CENTER OF YOUR UNIVERSE so Enjoy yourself
No Matter Where You Go, There You Are.
Anyway,
I am a bit of a Wise One too, I can't help it, that also comes naturally, I want everyone to feel good, really. So if I can pass on the keys to a happier life I am happy to do so.
